El Poder del Consumidor y la Fundación Interamericana del Corazón México buscarán a través del Congreso de la Unión, el incremento de precio de las bebidas azucaradas y el tabaco, con el propósito de apoyar a la reconstrucción de viviendas afectadas por los sismos del 7 y 19 de septiembre.
El aumento es el mismo que recomienda la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) del Impuesto Especial Sobre Producción y Servicios (IEPS) sería del 75 por ciento al tabaco y un 20 por ciento a las bebidas azucaradas, con lo que se recabaría un monto de 25 mil millones de pesos anuales adicionales.
En una rueda de prensa, Erick Antonio Ochoa, director de FIC informó que la reconstrucción de todos los inmuebles dañados será de 45 mil millones de pesos, una cifra cinco veces más alto que lo que se tiene en el Fondo de Desastres Naturales (Fonden) y nueve veces más alta de lo obtenido por el recorte del 70 por ciento de las campañas a los partidos.
No obstante, según la Encuesta Nacional de Ingresos y Gastos en de los Hogares (ENIGH), que elabora el Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (Inegi), un 60 por ciento de los ingresos por estos productos proviene de hogares pobres, es decir que los más afectados por el aumento al IEPS serían familias de escasos recursos.
“No es una medida extravagante, una medida similar se implementó en 1985″, expresó Erick Antonio Ochoa, director de FIC México.
La iniciativa se presentará este miércoles 11 de octubre ante la comisión de Hacienda y Crédito Público.
