En medio de la controversia generada por el estreno de la serie Chespirito: Sin querer queriendo, ha surgido en redes sociales una convocatoria ciudadana para derribar la estatua de Florinda Meza, ubicada en el jardín principal de Juchipila, su pueblo natal.
La cita ha sido programada para el próximo jueves 24 de julio, fecha en la que se transmitirá el episodio final de la serie biográfica sobre Roberto Gómez Bolaños, disponible en la plataforma Max y que ha roto récords de audiencia desde su estreno. La convocatoria ha tomado fuerza en redes sociales: más de 2 mil 300 personas han confirmado su asistencia y alrededor de 15 mil se han mostrado interesadas en seguir el desarrollo de este acto.
La estatua de Florinda Meza fue instalada hace seis años como un homenaje del municipio a su trayectoria artística, reconociéndola como una figura destacada originaria de la localidad. Sin embargo, tras la emisión de los episodios de la serie —donde se retrata la relación personal entre Meza y Gómez Bolaños—, la actriz ha sido objeto de numerosas críticas, lo que ha reavivado posturas encontradas sobre su legado.
Algunos de los comentarios que respaldan la iniciativa de remover la escultura señalan que Meza “nunca ha hecho nada por el pueblo” y consideran “deshonroso” que su imagen sea parte del espacio público, especialmente ahora que la polémica ha puesto en duda aspectos de su vida personal y profesional.
