Morelia, Michoacán.-La escritora y periodista Elena Poniatowska Amor fue galardonada con la Presea Gertrudis Bocanegra por el Cabildo del Ayuntamiento, por su contribución social en el país.
La presea se entrega a las mujeres que se hayan distinguido por sus actividades humanitarias, artísticas y científicas que por virtudes cívicas hayan honrado a México, Michoacán o al municipio de Pátzcuaro.
El galardón se entrega por sugerencia de los sectores representativos de la ciudad, clubes de servicio, organizaciones populares y obreras, cámara de comercio y organizaciones de prestaciones de servicios.
Elena ha colaborado en el periódico Excélsior, Novedades y la Jornada, mientras que entre sus obras literarias se encuentran de Hasta no verte Jesús Mío (1969), La noche de Tlatelolco (1971), donde narra la matanza de los estudiantes de 1968, entre otras más.
