El presidente de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, declaró durante la Cumbre de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (CELAC), que Norteamérica aún ve a Latinoamérica como su patio trasero.
De igual forma señaló que existe una contradicción entre la Organización de los Estados Americanos (OEA) y la CELAC, a la cual comparó con la contradicción del Monroismo y el Boliviarianismo.
“Claro que hay una contradicción entre la OEA y la CELAC, es la vieja contradicción del Monroismo y el Bolivarianismo, América para los americanos, que nos consideran patio trasero, eso sigue intacto, sigue así”, afirmó Maduro.
Por lo que dijo que el camino a seguir frente a la situación política y económica actual debe ser bajo el “latinoamericanismo, el unionismo y la CELAC”.
Remarcó la necesidad de que haya se organice la CELAC bajo una nueva institucionalidad, por lo que solicitó a los líderes de la Cumbre evaluar la creación de una Secretaría General de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos Caribeños, la cual ayudaría a alcanzar el ideal de una integración.
